There are three spacious and comfortable bedrooms, tastefully decorated with tranquil views over the surrounding countryside. All rooms have special touches such as local books, handmade soaps, herb teas, organic cotton towels and fresh flowers from the garden, as well as the standard colour TV/DVD, central heating and tea and coffee making facilities. The two en-suite bedrooms are either twin or king size rooms and both have pull-out sofabeds for extra sleeping accommodation.
The sitting room is warmed with a log burning stove and is a relaxing place to sit with a cup of tea, have a chat, read a book, play the piano or study one of our local maps and books.
Meals are served in the dining room before the open fire. We specialise in organic and home grown food- eggs from the hens, homemade breads and jams and pancakes with maple syrup. Our evening meals are served by candlelight and available upon request. Generally, we serve a "supper" which consists of a delicious, hearty and homemade soup from the garden, freshly baked bread, our own chutney and local cheeses. In the summer we often substitute the soup with a "chef's salad" with fresh produce from the garden. We are also happy to prepare a two or three course meal with starter, pudding and coffee for parties of four or more
"Over Stowey was the real home of my heart ...The beauty of the waterfalls and streams, the deep red earth, the strong, wiry bracken, the lovely heather hills, the fragrant drenched woods, full of moss and ferns... We lay in a fold of the Quantocks under steep, red fields, the moor above us, and occasional white seagulls swooping over our bright earth."
~ Phyllis Bottome remembering her childhood in the Vicarage
